Patch Notes - 0.0.89
Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️ This is our biggest and most significant patch yet, bringing major gameplay improvements, mechanics reworks, new NPCs, and refined UI elements. We've also added new room types, introduced stamina, and fixed key issues reported by the community.

🔥 New Features
🍽️ Mechanics rework. Fundamental changes to improve game flow.
🍽️ Cards are now dealt one at a time at the start of a new turn.
• New abilities added to cards.
🍽️ Potions can now be used outside of combat.
• Meet Bluecap, Herne the Hunter, and Lugh. Our first NPCs have arrived.
• New shop screen for a better trading experience.
🍽️ Lady Catherine can now be petted in both the tutorial and home page.
🍽️ Can now discard cards during encounter strategically.
• New room types:
- The Nook. A mysterious new space to explore.
- Quest Room. Meet NPCs and take on challenges.
- Campfire. Cook some additional dishes.
🛠️ Changes & Improvements
• Updated engine version to Godot 4.4.
• More detailed text alerts and visual effects when applying statuses to horrors.
• Starting adjustments:
- Start with x3 silver ingredients.
- Starting deck now consists of 10 dishes.
• Silver ingredient pedestal now auto-triggers when walking past.
• Chains of food now summarise hunger gained at the end instead of spamming notifications.
• Steps bar changed to a solid colour bar with legends for better readability.
🍽️ Princess no longer loses 1 hunger per turn.
• Princess now has stamina instead of hunger. Eating a dish restores stamina based on its value.
• Card design cleaned up to reduce clutter.
• Recipe cards now have an option to view the final dish card.
• Parallax component upgraded for better performance.
• Dialogue audio improved to sound more pleasant.
🐞 Bug Fixes
• Loved and hated dishes now correctly display hunger values in the breakdown.
🍽️ No more rushing to chests. Chests now despawn properly and cannot be interacted with once gone.
🍽️ Wrong stats on Cornish pasty fixed.
• Lady Catherine's exclamation mark now correctly hides when prompted to talk.
• Applying statuses like Foul Aftertaste now correctly overwrites statuses like Loveable.
• Ambient sounds now loop correctly.

Patch Notes - 0.0.88
This is a small patch, more of a hotfix addressing issues from the previous update. We've made minor improvements, tackled some bug fixes, and resolved a persistent Intel GPU issue affecting loot selection. 🍽️
🛠️ Changes & Improvements
🍽️ The horror's name is now displayedinstead of "Horror's turn" at the start of its turn, making battles clearer.
• Added V-Sync option in settings for smoother visuals.
🐞 Bug Fixes
• Boss music now stops properly when a boss is defeated.
• When a horror hates a dish music now fades temporarily instead of stopping completely.
🍽️ Demo complete screen now loads correctly.
• Tremor bug fixed – it now removes a dealt card as intended.
🍽️ Fixed major Intel GPU bug – The oot selection glitch, where cards turned white or black when hovered over, has been resolved.

Big changes are here! You can now play Hungry Horrors in your browser on Itch.io, making it easier than ever to jump in.
This update also introduces tweaks to Love and Hate, making them less absolute while keeping them powerful in the right hands. We’ve drastically reduced the game’s file size, improved performance, refined UI responsiveness, and tackled some key bugs, including a screen flickering issue on some Intel and AMD graphics cards when entering battle.

🍽️ Love and Hate effects adjusted – No longer guarantee instant victory or defeat, now offering a more strategic impact for players to discover.
• Card hovering is now smoother for a more polished feel.
• Version number added to the in-game settings screen for easier tracking.
• File size reduced drastically – The game is now over 60% smaller, improving loading times and performance.
🐞 Bug Fixes
🍽️ Screen flickering issue fixed – Some Windows machines using Intel and certain AMD graphics cards experienced flickering when entering battle. This should no longer happen.
🍽️ Mouse-over bug fixed – Moving the cursor over a dish, then exiting the windowed game, no longer causes the card to vibrate and repeatedly play selection sounds.
🍽️ Recipe card text no longer overlaps.
🍽️ Cards no longer move behind each other unexpectedly.
• Performance improved – Eliminated judder when entering battle.
• No more duplicated vendor items.
🍽️ Reloading a cursed lair no longer stacks curses.
🍽️ Restarting the game with the tutorial enabled now correctly starts in the intended area.
• Potion Likeable correctly makes a disliked dish liked.

The kitchen is heating up! This update brings some much-needed improvements, new features, and bug fixes to make your journey through Hungry Horrors smoother and more rewarding. We've reworked loot mechanics, refined tooltips, and expanded the tutorial to better explain key mechanics.
On top of that, performance has been improved, and we’ve made sure the game runs more smoothly. As always, your feedback helps shape Hungry Horrors, so keep it coming! 🍽️

• Crow warns when about to famish – A little heads-up before things get dire!

• Chests no longer drop items onto the floor
• Instead, chests open a menu where you choose your reward
• Chests are now color-coded based on reward type: Dish, Recipe, Ingredient, Potion, or Gold
• Chest glow now reflects different tiers of loot

Greetings, brave chefs! A fresh update has arrived, bringing new features, improvements, and bug fixes to Hungry Horrors. Read on to see what’s cooking in version 0.0.85!

🔥 New Features
• 🍽️ Graveyard and draw pile are now viewable – Keep track of your discarded and remaining cards for better strategic planning.
• 🍽️ Speed settings update – Movement speed and combat speed can now be adjusted separately for a more tailored experience.
🛠️ Changes & Improvements
• New game loading screen added
• Audio balancing tweaks – Background music now lowers when the Love SFX plays, boss battle music loops seamlessly, and SFX levels have been re-balanced.
Gameplay refinements:
• Cap the max number of horror's steps triggered in a row
• You can now cancel out of a dish throw.
• A reminder arrow has been added for the silver ingredients pedestal in the kitchen.
• Curse skull flight duration has been shortened.
🐞 Bug Fixes
• 🍽️ Tutorial fix – Completing the tutorial no longer adds to your vanquished count.
• Bestiary refresh issue resolved – Opening the bestiary now correctly updates monster tastes.
• Feast buff corrected – When a feast status fills a horror, the full animation will now always play.
